Hi Guys. I started shooting at a very young age and had to use my middle finger for the trigger because my index wasn't strong enough. I shot that way most of my life and never really noticed it, I even use that finger for triggers on power tools and such. When I started shooting precision I forced myself to use my index finger and after a couple years it still feels wrong. What kind of issues and limitations will I face if I go back to my middle finger?

You can't grip a recoiling rifle consistently as well...

Get your trigger set as light and crisp as allowed in competition ... and then lightly tape your middle finger and the one next to it together... until shooting with your index finger feels better... it will never feel the same as you learned with, but suck it up...

I know I have much better trigger control with my middle finger but it has 25 more years of practice than my index. Using my index is like using my left hand but I'll keep trying it and see.

I shot with a fellow in 1992 CFSAC who won the pistol competition that year with his CF issue Browning - shot right handed with his middle finger, for no other reason then he felt more comfortable doing it. Forget his name! But shot it with the standard CF issue Browning.
