I've recently stumbled across the Midwest Industries handguards for the takedown 10/22. I've just ordered one for my 10/22 - mostly because I've wanted to mount a forward optic (RDS or scout scope) on it for quite some time, but the Amega mounts will not work for me (no barrel band) and the Magpul backpacker stock (and the corresponding optic mount) don't allow two scope rings for a scout scope.
Based on how it mounts, I'm hopeful that it will work well - but I'm eager to know if anyone has and first-hand experience with either the 8" or the long version.
