Just wanted to know if anyone was running one of these and if so what your impressions were. I've ordered one of the xl models from a site sponsor but would like to hear some feedback from those who have experience with this handguard or any other aftermarket handguard for their Tavor.
Ben.

Oh hullo.

I used mine at the Crimson Trace Midnight 3 Gun two weeks ago:

I bought this rail because I liked the idea of adding some extra handguard length onto the Tavor. I was keen to try a more AR-15 style C clamp grip, and mount a light without getting barrel shadow down-range.

The other big thing was that I've noticed AR-15 shooters favouring wide bottomed Seekins rails that let them lock in against barriers. I wanted to try something like that on the Tavor.

Sadly there wasn't any barrier shooting at the Crimson Trace, so I honestly can't say how well the midwest rail does with this, but it feels right.

Plus keymod is currently fashionable, and I didn't own anything with keymod.

Now with a few hundred rounds through it, I think it's fine to have the extra grip and 11 o'clock rail space on the front of the gun, but better suited to a lightweight optic.

I'll need to weigh it again, but with my Razor 1-6 on top the whole thing is getting into the 12lb arena.

I really like both the Gear Head Works and the Manticore Arms replacement forearms, and consider them better options for someone thinking "I want my Tavor to be a patrol rifle, and have a light & tape switch under the barrel." Especially if you're an American with a 16" gun or a Canadian with a 14.5" CTAR.

I think the XL handguard could look a little strange with current generation flattop Tavor's, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

Keep in mind that you lose some of your closest keymod sections to the receiver of the Tavor itself (visible in the leather photo)

I don't think I'll be leaving this handguard on over the winter, but before I take it off I want to put the bipod on the front and play with that DMR style fun.

If the Midwest System was $350, I would feel disappointed. But at the sub $200 mark it's a neat addition.

What else would you like to know?

Can I ask which sponsor you bought it from? I'm looking to pick one up but wolverine doesn't seem to have them in stock.

Well , that was probably the most thorough answer ever. Thanks TVPP !
I'm also waiting on a fde version from Wolverine. Looking forward to trying my Tavor with a bit more extended grip. Also hoping that I'll be able to comfortably run an inforce wml at the 9 o'clock position comfortably and without too much of a shadow from the barrel down range.

We have the non-extended version (in black AND FDE) plus the flashlight mount in stock at the moment

Oh and we're about a month out from having the Timney Triggers in stock for the Tavor too

In all honesty, the MI XL handgaurd is the only one of thier handgards that surpass the GHW ones. I dont think there is a much interest in the short ones as they have some very stiff competition.
