Guys a rifle my mate is looking at has a Leupold 3-9x50 Mildot reticle scope on it, an im unsure how these look in regards to for hunting!

does anyone have one of these reticles they could take a photo of for me please?

Would it interfere with hunting Deer?
how big are the mildots on 9x at 100m?

worst case they guy could sell the scope off later for another without mil dot I guess. just might be not worth the hassle?

your opinons please

Mildot scopes have been taking down game since they came out on the market. Nothing wrong with hunting with mil-dot scopes in fact it's probably even better as it will allow you to quickly range your target. If you know the average height of your target, you can calculate the yardage fairly easily without having to break out the laser range finder etc.

Know your target's yardage, know your ammo's ballistics and know what your rifle is capable of, do the math, lay the crosshair on the target and pull trigger. The mil-dot isn't in the middle of the scope's reticle. They're tiny dots along the x and y axis.

Mildots are mostly about ranging and elevation plus some about leading a moving target(not that most hunters should ever take such a shot). No reason not to hunt with one as long as you know where the shot goes when using the dots. Really just another type of reticle.
Mildot scopes have taken down anything.

Yeah thanks Tinimom an Sunray!

I just wasn't sure of how busy the Scope would be, or how big the dots would be etc, although I was given wrong details about said scope, an appears I will have the LR leupold reticle with the 2 dots below the crosshair.
