I've got some 7.62 NATO IVI cases I'd like to reload.

I plan on using IMR 4895 pushing 150 gr FMJ-BT's.

"Modern Reloading" gives a _starting_ load of 42.1 grains , max load of 45.5 grains.

Q - Do I need to reduce the _starting_ load by 5% due to using the IVI brass?

TIA,

Craig

IVI brass tends to be fairly robust, and dropping your starting load is not a bad idea.

I would probably load 5 at 41.5 and chrono the results.

Ive used ivi 7.62 brass in my .308s for past 30 years.......good quality cases and last a lot of reloads...... usually find I get max loads at about 1 grain/1.5 grains less than my commercial brass.....

to answer your question......42 grains Imr4895 is just fine to "start " at if thats what you manual lists as a "starter load " with the bullet you chose...after that, go up a half grain at a time if you want...

hs4570.......your mileage may vary
