Can anybody tell me from the following description what this is, what it does and what it is for ?

Thx in advance. :)

Grey wood box length 17 1/2 ", width 8 1/2 ", height 7 1/2'.
PATT.G. 376 in black leters on the top.
The telescope in the box has the following marking.
7X50
Gun Sighting Telescope
PATT. G. 376
Canadian Kodak Co.Limited
Serial No. CAN.2918

Gun in Canadian military usually means field gun.....I'd guess a sighting or spotting scope for a 25 pounder?

A photo of the telescope would go a long way. I'm not so sure it is for the 25pdr. Often, grey paint denoted naval use.

Off the top of my head, the 25 pdr, along with the 6 pdr, and the 40mm bofors, all used the 22-C, or the no42 or no52 sights for direct fire.

Hitzy: That is about the tackiest photo of a 25 pdr I have ever seen. I have been looking for one of those guns to add to my collection. Please don't show that photo again or I might change my mind. It looks like it went through the "pimp my ride" show.
