Military shotguns who uses what?

In Afghanistan we had Remington 870 12 gauge shotguns. They had no mods at all. They had 18" barrels (I might be wrong on the length by a couple of inches) and black plastic furniture. The ones we have here in my unit have been modded with new folding stocks. If I can ever get a close up look at them I'll see if I can get some pics.

The CF uses a couple of variations of the Rem 870, both with fized and folding stocks. They are all stock Remingtons though, no particular mods on them.....

My friends who went to Somolia brought Winchester Defenders with them, for use on guard duty or foot patrol.
I remember when CFB Petawawa bought them in the late 80's.
Rumour was the Military Police had access to 870s, but I personally never saw them in use.

At one point we had 870s with longer barrels than the 18", not exactly sure length, maybe 26"? Black plastic furniture though.
Those of us who worked EOD in the '70s & '80s used Remington 1100s on the RMI (Remote Mechanical Investigator). Plus we had a couple of Valmet O/U 12 gauges in the lockup. They worked great for shotgun familarization training in the fall!

I believe the americans use Mossberg 590's and Benelli M4's but don't quote me on the Benelli part.

us still have 1000,s or rem 870,s
The 870 is the most used shotgun in thew world, i had lunch last month with oen of the remington reps up from the US, he said they have not just toped the 10million sold mark.

As I know the French Legion, some South-American countries (Chile, Columbia) and the Italians are using Valtro PM5. And the South Africans had these in the early 90's.

sorry to say your friend was pulling your leg on that one..We had Rem 870's and Valmet Lion O/U shotguns in Somalia
We had 8 Rem 870 Police 18" with front bead sight, Choate +2 Ext's, Uncle Mikes mag clamps (bottom and side swivels) Either fixed or pistol grips for all ( user pref ) and padded slings...Mods were bought via funding..... I bought 8 butt stock shell holders for them as a Xmas gift....
I seen also in Canada Rem 870 Police with the wooden pump handles and the LE top folding stocks...
Shotgun ammo we have, can be better.... Rem Sluggers and # 7 1/2 steel shot is what we had...NO LE ammo....

In the July/August issue of the magazine W Wappen there is a bunch of pics of some canadian troops with Rem shotties some with 18" or 18.5" barrels and with mag extension and one with what seems to be 12.5".
