Has anyone ever fit a military style M98 shroud with a flag safety onto a Zastava (or MkX, Whitworth, Santa Barbara)? Does it fit?

I realize this is the opposite of what most people do but I am toying with the idea of a Zastava but will replace the trigger with a Timney and I want a more mechanically robust safety than the trigger safety. A Win style 3 position is great, but pricey. My last Mauser had a low profile Buehler style 45 deg safety that took minutes to install and still locked the striker; was quick and quiet. I like it and was thinking a military shroud with a Buhler style might work on the Zastava?

Thanks

The wing safety will have to be compatible with the cocking piece and the trigger mechanism, but it is do-able.

For sure, my last was a milsurp actioned .30-06 with a Timney trigger. We simply removed the military 3 position flag safety and dropped in the 45 deg Buehler. I am not sure if the Zastava / FN pattern will accept a military style shroud.

In theory it should work, in practice it will be try it and see. I had (still have) a WWII BYF Mauser that would not accept the shroud from DWM Mauser, even though theoretically the dimensions should have been the same. Had that shroud been from another Mauser Werke rifle, I'm sure it would have fit with no problems.
