Military trainers?

I know back in the day the US used Remington 40x .22lr for training and target shooting but I was wondering if anyone knew what the Canadians used and how accurate were they ? Did they use some sort of converted Enfield?

I remember my Dad getting a LE chambered for .22lr back in the late 50s or early 60s when he was in the Reserves, also several 500 pk 22lr, grey cardboard marked "Property of DND". I believe they were used for militia training.
