millet scopes

are they any good?
am looking at a 6x25x56 for my 7rem mag,
they have a 35 mm tube but it comes with rings.
any opinions would be appreciated,
and no i WILL NOT buy another leupold,lol

I have that scope(6-25-56mm LRS). I am very well pleased with it.
It is on a .243 which I retired (farm land, noise, etc.) and replaced with a
FCP-K in .223.

IIRC it has 140 MOA come-up, 1/4 MOA E&W adj. knobs, turret locks, mine is mildot, the glass is very good and I've had no problems with it.

The only down side is it comes with(or mine did in the U.S.) high Millett tactical rings. I wanted to drop mine about 5/8" but I have been unable to
find a 35MM ring in captivity anywhere in Canada. Nor has any dealer so far been able to find a set for me. Ive had the scope 3-4 yrs and hunt or shoot weekly.(yotes here are open here year round)

So if the scope mounts a little too high for you a Karsten cheekpiece is what I used.

Those are some seriously high rings! Even with a lower profile rail it looks like you could practically limbo underneath them, and that's with a 56mm objective?

So you are happy with the optical quality of that scope?

I really like the scope. Yes the rings that come with the 35mm tube are high rings and any other 35mm rngs have been hard to get in Canada.

Yes 56mm obj. and Butler Creek caps, EGW 20 MOA base.

I have a set for my CZ452 Silhouette to mount a Millet TRS-1 with
A 50mm obj and a 30mm tube (2.5mm bell to BBL clearance) all on th CZ 11mm dovetail. Best made rings I have ever bought.
While not cheap, you do get what you pay for

I think Millet is owned by Bushnell now. I called them to get some replacement screws, and got Bushnell Canada.

I had a LRS-1 and was not impressed with the turrets. The single allen key to tighten the adjustment knob down to the turret would not hold the elevation right from day 1. I had to place a piece of tissue under the adjustment knob to get it to lock down or it didn't always actually adjust the turret when I turned the knob. It would just spin. It is also very hard to find rings for the 35mm tube in Canada. Vortex makes a scope with a 35mm tube so it may be easier to get rings now. I ordered a set out of the US and was much happier once the scope was down low. The LRS is also huge and heavy which isn't great for a hunting rifle but works well for a range gun.
The factory millet rings while they look identical to Burris XTR rings seem to be made of a softer aluminum and strip easily.
Other than those issues I liked the scope, the glass was very clear and the turrets were accurate. I sold the LRS-1 but kept my TRS-1 as it seems to be built better and I use it on my 6.5-284 and it is consistant.

For a hunting rifle I would look at the TRS before the LRS.

Interesting, well I ordered a Millet DMS over the weekend (from P&D - best prices around it seems), and look forward to it, heard that the Millets were ok... they're nothing special, but you get what you pay for...
