Hi,

I need to buy some rings. The millet setup is around 60 and sako optilock setup is around 160-170. I was going to go with the millets but the guy at the store told me that due to the caliber there is a good chance that the scope might shift and that with the sako optilocks it wouldnt. I need some input is its worth the money to go with the optilocks and if in fact the millets could shift?? Anyone have problems with the millets? Or is the guy just trying to sell me the more expansive rings.

Do you want a Yugo with a cracked block or a BMW?

Millet rings are awful. In my mind it would be between Leupold's Sako style or the Optilocks. Between Leupold and Optilocks I would definitly go with the optilocks if the budget was there, but the Leupolds are pretty good. Just don't go Millet, I've had screws snap and threadings strip at modest torque values (20-25 inch/lbs). I used to work in a gun store and had more problems with poor QC qith Millet rings/bases than any other brand.

I don't mind Millet rings for most applications but not for the Sako 75 or 85 as you have to use an adapter plate between the rifle and ring. In my opinion the Optilok are best with the Leupold ringmount next however some scopes will not fit with Leupolds due to the position of the rings on the gun. We also use Burris bases and rings in some applications and have had good results. In the heavier (magnum) calibers I still prefer the Optilocks. Phil.
