I'm pretty tired of my 3-9x32 Tasco on my Savage MK2. I'm looking to get a better scope. I'm eyeballing the Millett 4-16x50mm Tactical Rifle Scope. Ideally I'd like to get a rail mounted on the rifle and get a detachable set of rings for the scope. That way I could put it on a .308 when I get one and alternate.

What do you think? Is the Millett 4-16x50mm Tactical Rifle Scope worth it?

I agree.... bit overkill!

I had been looking at the .22 builds over at rimfirecentral, and noticed alot of guys going with Mueller scopes, so i sourced out a dealer in Canada, and picked up a Mueller APV for my 10/22T, and loved it so much, I got the Mueller Eradicator for my Savage 93r17 BSEV. The glass in the Mueller's are very good for the money, and the reticles are nice as well. Theres a guy in WPG that sells the Mueller scopes privately, Phil, White Falls Hunting Supplies. Good guy to deal with, and the only Mueller guy around from what I could find.

For a .22, the Mueller APV is a solid performer! If you look Phil up, tell him Doug referred you, you'll get a deal... ;-) (or I will on my next purchase! LOL)

Too big for a 22LR and swapping back and forth between two rifles will be a huge pain in the as$. You will need to re-zero every time you switch.
3-9 is all you need on a 22.
Millett is similar quality to a Bushnell 4200 so you may want better when you get a 308. Can't beat the warranty though. Lifetime replacement is hard to beat. I like the reticle as well.

It would be fine on a .22, but I wouldn't recommend switching. For those that say a 3-9 is enough, it is, as long as you're not doing any serious target shooting.

I don't have a Millet but I run my Nightforce on my Savage MkII TR, my precision AR, and my M700. Picatinny rails on all of them and the Nightforce rides in an ADM Scout mount. I have notes on where the zero is for each rifle/load and all I have to do is dial the turrets to the appropriate settings.

Not a big deal.

when killing paper by making bug holes 16 is OK,24 is better and I think 32 is king.(just went through this.) 3x9 is great as a hunting scope or for gophers. Do not switch if you can help it.
