Anyone know of anywhere in Canada I could get this work done? I have always hated the T3 ejection port and the T3X still leaves me cold.

Normally I'm all for the wide open ports, however since you can't top-load the T3 magazines, and the T3's generally eject just fine out of the small port, there's no real reason to do this modification...

But with that being said, I really do love the look :)

And the reason for doing this would be almost purely aesthetic.

That's one way to weaken the receiver...

A reputable 'smith in New Zealand has modified many with no incidents yet, but, we alter things at our own risk.
I would like to say that a T3 action is built to a price-point and therefore has the least amount of machining possible, I am not a structural engineer at Tikka, but I'd risk a couple of digits and an eyeball for the milling work in the above picture.
That action has to handle pressures that run the gamut of the most pedestrian cartridges right-up to belted magnums and the WSM/PRC's...my intended use is .223 and 6.5 Creedmoor.

I remember in years past a few folks saying not to flute a Tikka bolt for risk of weakening it, and then some years later Tikka releases an action with a factory fluted bolt and jacks the price up 500$!

Ummmm NO.

The T3 has two locking lugs in the receiver RING that take up all of the pressure/force.

All milling away the extra metal will do is likely take some of the stiffness out of the receiver and have a negative effect on accuracy.

Really! Have you looked a Sako A7 it is cut the same .Not to mention all of other actions. The main reason for not removing it during production is machining costs .The Tikka action is all about production costs just look how its made .Not that they are not good rifles .The locking lugs are in the front so no issues with action stress .Have at it mill away all the excess .Makes a nice light action .

Great Explanation Gary ! RJ

I can do this kind of work (Mind you, not with a dremel...). shoot me a pm if yould like to discuss.
I can also do bolt fluting in whatever configuration is desired.

Regards!
Paul.
