Millitary.com....not much love for the cz-58

sks effective range 600yards, Ak 400, vz 300. the sks is considered to be the most accurate of all of them. Ive had an sks b4, fun gun, but i wouldn't say it would outperform a cz. at best the same.

X2, I've got 2 Norc AKs and an SKS and the SKS is defintiely more accurate.
An AK 400m? Not against a point target. I had read that same claim in an old AK lesson plan, so (back when we could still get SAPs) I tested it when I went to the range that weekend. 3 military guys (2 regular shooters, and 1 a master sniper) fired a total of 60 rounds at a figure 11 at 400m. Just over half the rounds were on the target. Not exactly scientific, but it makes the point.
The only VZ I've fired was Bartok's at the maritime shoot a couple years back, so I can't comment on that.

The Title of the article is Insurgents Weapons Old but Effective

...then the AK becomes straight blowback. So all AKs there are Bizons I guess? I am not sure how complicated the action really is. We did okay and none of us had owner's manuals.

i think that article is bS
I never had a jam on my CZ Yet, but in fairness i haven't had it in combat .and that is not what i bought it for (besides somehow i doubt the guy has used his
m16 let alone any thing else and unless you actually have how can you judge fairly?

I am not sure how complicated the action really is.

my sentiments exactly there is an article in Wiki pedia (not that i consider that a good source) that says the same it seem to stem more from opinion than fact.

The SKS leaves a lot to be desired for accuracy past 150 yards. 600 yds is a pipe dream. Last December I entered a competition where I ended up trying to takedown steel plates at 400 yds with an SKS. It was a fun waste of ammunition, nothing else. I would have done better with an M1 Garand etc.

no way the SKS rifles I've owned have been as accurate as my VZ. I've not had a VZ, SKS, or AR15 (besides the one I used in the Reserves) jam on me.

The ranges stated are also pretty wild...

Strange read from a strange source i guess.

Then theres the innaccuracies in the entire article...VZ58....CZ58.....AK actions....jammed Vz's....

The vz is not complicated! it is simple. I can shoot much better with my 858 than i can with an sks. can't comment on the AK, well because this is kanuckistan. That article is full of ####. 600m for an sks, but 300 for a vz?
bull ####.

I shoot the steel rams at 500m with mine no problem.

"extremely complicated action" - wtf? Let’s hope this guy never has to use a blender or other extremely complicated equipment.

My VZ58 didn't even come with the Spanish Novel; "Manuel" and I got mine apart in minutes.

That’s OK because I was on one forum, the discussion was about the VZ58, and one Marine (deployed) said that you shouldn't buy a VZ58 because of the rarity of the ammunition. You're better off with an AK47 he said. but that it (VZ58) did use readily available AK magazines. :bangHead:

Perhaps the Marine is on "bad ass" Unit Administrator. I'm a "bad ass" computer programmer myself.

Than again, myself and another "knowledgeable firearms guy" spent the better part of five minutes trying to figure out why 7.62X39 wouldn't fit into an AK magazine (chambered in 5.56) So shyt happens.
