Milsurp first rifle?

Huge numbers of Canadians have made one of the Lee Enfields their first MILSURP rifle for generations. Why not, they are rugged, reliable, and reek with history. We have used them in one form or another for the past 100+ yrs.

the enfield of any year and make is the one gun you can use for everything you may wish to hunt. Knock down power for its caliber is fantastic. My long Lee has put down over 20 deer in the last 40 years. One shot only. Open sights. and so easy to reload for.

The CZ 858 with the long non-restricted barrel and folding stock is awesome for carrying (makes the overall length restriction by an inch). It is a very compact rifle and they do sell short mags if you don't like the longer Banana magazine. They are light, accurate to 200 yards with iron sites (which is within an ethical killing range for that cartridge), and they have an easy take-down. Some say that the 858's closed cover action was an imporvement upon the open action of the AK-47 - different design lineage, but an improved assault rifle action. Conflicts around the world and Spike's "Deadliest Warriors" attest to the reliability of the AK action. Too bad Valment Hunters were so darn expensive and rare.
