Hey guys! I was wondering if there are any military surplus shoots that go on in Manitoba during the course of the year? I would love to attend such an event.

The only problem I see is location. Some gun clubs only allow members to shoot. It would be awesome to have a get together and have some fun competitions. Have it sponsored by d's whole hog or something, and get some of those exploding targets I've seen which are legal in the states. (Canada too?) what about private land location? There are lots of folks who own gravel puts, new and old. (Legal?) starting to think his should be in the legalese section. I'm totally in, as long as the location isn't insane.

Sounds like a good idea! A couple of years I went to the two-man team shoot that was held at Hipwell's. It was the most fun I've had ever! Two man, 10 minute time limit, a whole bunch of different targets at different distances, usual safety rules - and go to it! I remember the one time that one of the organizers told me they started shooting early in the morning and shot all day.

One year, the guy I was teamed up with didn't have the best eyesight, and, of course, I am a lousy shot, so we won the "Better Bowler than Shooter" trophies! The trophy was a bowler throwing a ball! (Some of the targets were bowling pins) We looked at each other in surprise when they were handing out the prizes and they called our names. We laughed so hard about that our sides hurt. We actually had the worst score of the day! What a blast, literally, when you can blaze away for ten minutes, non-stop. There were no special restrictions on what kind of rifle you used. One of the best shooters there was using a borrowed 6.5x55 M96, open sights! I recall using an 8x57 98 of some sort one year.

I would be willing to help put something on, but am not much in favor of having some high falutin" contest with 236 rules and stipulations.:)

Funny. Last week SMELLIE and I were kicking around the possibility of having a shoot at Virden. This might call for some more thought on the subject.
