Okay, here goes. The mods might not like this, but...

I am starting to siphon off guns from my pile of military rifles. Some are just run of the mill, while others are well above that. I know it sounds kind of bad, but I haven't got the patience to advertise a rifle, answer a thousand questions, send more pics, etc, then never hear from the party again. Guns will be dribbled off to KARLA's Auction in Springside. I've sent five, so far, each with a reasonable description. Next sale is in late October sometime. Bidding will start near the end of October.

What is their commission fees like?

I could not find any mention on their website, only this - Karla's Auction does not publicly disclose standard seller fees, but buyers pay a 10% fee up to a $500 maximum per item, and sellers may incur a $5 per day storage fee for any unpicked-up items.
 
I'm getting up there in age myself and probably sold 40+ rifles in the last two years.
It kinda hurts to sell them but I don't have anyone to leave them to.
My son is not interested in old milsurps. :(
 
there are better auction houses that will provide shipping, that will open up the bidder pool a lot.

When I want to 'unload' one of my rifles I take it to a local auction house here that does shipping (Wards / Bud Haynes)
 
I could likely make arrangement to ship any of my rifles for the buyer. The people who run the auction are easy to deal with.

I have some rather pricey rifles that I do not want the likes of the exalted east coast guru. You will know who I mean.

It still limits the pool of buyers and what you may receive... But maybe that works out with the lower premiums.

Please update this thread when things go up, I'll point some international buyers at it.
 
OP isn't wrong at all as we get older time becomes more precious. I too don't have the patience when I sell my rifles I go to a LGS they give me $$$ they turn around and sell it and make $$$$. At the end of the day we both get to feed our families so to speak.
 
Five rifles up now, but bidding doesn't start until late October. Guns have sold on this site quite well in the past.

I sold some firearms last summer via consignment at the LGS , they charged 20 percent , and I set the prices . Not a bad deal as they advertise in their store , and website ; plus they do all the paperwork . packing , shipping , financing , etc .
 
Miller&Miller Auctions tend to be upscale. Most of their sales are not firearms related. They do have someone on staff who is firearm knowledgeable.
 
If you look at the results from their previous firearm auctions, you will see that they have been able to attract serious bidders.
 
they are certainly optimistic - they think they will get $3250 for a run of the mill home guard ross MkIII. After buyer's premium, that would be around $4K. No thanks.

Also, beware Lot 19 if you like Carcanos. Stock has been faked. Look at the FAET cartouche - 1946 has been overstamped with 1898. There is no such thing as a real FAET cartouche from 1898.
