So just wondering how many are out there, did they most likely walk away from the factory in someone's lunchbox, or coat? A serial # is a good way for the govt to keep tabs on there property. Here's mine just picked it up, it's an unfired no2 inglis hipower, it is mint! Thanks Don

The only markings on it are on the heel & the JI on the mag

Any other unserialized guns out there and if anyone knows how I get an idea of what the manf date is, please chime in

All conventional armies are highly anal about serial numbers on small arms. They rank right up there with regimental/service numbers. Pte Snuffy does not get issued a piece, unless it is by s/n.

There seem to be a number of LB Number 4 Rifles out there without numbers, those and LB .22s. People keep tellng me that they are worth zero premium because they are so common...... perhaps that's because I have very minty ones of each put away, .303 unfired, 50 out of the .22.

But this is the first I have heard of a JI unnumbered HP.

Who knows? Maybe there is a whole warehouse filled with unnumbered JI Brens waiting for us! Dibs on the shiny one!!

That is a Very Fine Toy you are showing us, friend.

Thank you.

Smellie, I'd love a LB with no serial#;) now that I know there out there. Think anyone would notice if I scrubbed out the LB's I've got:p

I bought an unserialized inglis slide last month. Looked to be brand new with the grease still there. It's a No1 with the tangent sights. Curiously enough it does not have the mk I* roll mark.

You obviously have the book, so you can date it roughly from the slide markings. All Inglis BHPs were manufactured during 1944 and 1945, though there was some limited assembly and parts manufacture by CAL postwar...

I can tell you just by looking that it isn't early, the length of the shelf where the slide projects from the dust cover is the later short version (most are).

My "lunchbox" is a hybrid No1MkI type frame and a No2MkI slide. My pistol is "in the white" and frame and slide are unfinished, while most of the componants are finished.

Mine is entirely early parts, extractor, barrel, ejector, hammer ect. It is a pre MkI*. I suspect that they were left over parts and used to build up a frame and slide which got boxed out early during production.

Sadly mine was (obviously like yours) unregistered into the "sticky" era, as some jackass used 1/4" metal stamps to install the sticky number perminantly.

My buddy has a No2MkI* which (like yours) was fully finished before release. His has an RCMP division serial number e-penned into the frame.

Another No2MkI* I've seen has the K-Division serial e-penned under the right grip on the frame- you have to remove the grip to see it.

I've had a good dozen in my hands during the last 15 years, so there are one heck of a lot of them around...

Lee enfield, I figured out from the book that it would be between 44/45 I just wanted a more narrow time frame, and since there's nothing in the book in regards to the marks on the heel that some one might know a little about them. Mostly though I wanted to know more about unserialized milsurps in general, who had one and let's see it:)
Thanks for the information though I'd like se. To see your all in the "white" inglis

You should be able to narrow it down by the slide markings. They are illustrated in the diamond book with @ serials as I recall.

Thanks I'll look it over tonight, any idea what the W or M is or the other thing that looks like a D or 0 there's actually a faint 1 or l beside it, I took a magnifying glass to it but it's really faint

how do you register it ?
loll
See the sticker in front of the trigger guard that would be the CFC issued serial number
