Wondering if any of you make your own mineral lick, and or what do you put out? Just salt? other stuff?

I have seen a couple recipes, but does anyone have any they use that you could share?

Thanks
Dave

Depending on where you are at it might or might not be legal to set licks for game. A mineral block at the feed store will cost you less then 10 bucks.

iodine cobalt blocks and smash them with a sledge hammer......10 or these will cost you about 50 bucks..............spring run off will spread it out a bit and it will remain active for a few years.....if you can get them out before the snow, that's better as the thaw/freeze will slow release the salt into the ground......if youcan dig a 1ft deep trench and place them in that, it will work better. I have a "Whitetail Institute" feed area on my farm and the mineral/salt lick accompanied by some clover makes a great deer area.
