Mini 14 accuracy with EBR stock

Hey All

Recently saw a Mini 14 with an EBR stock on EE and cant seem to get it out of my mind.

Questions would be where could I find this stock in Canada? and does it improve accuracy at all over the factory stock? Any help would be great thanks.

As a Mini 14 shooter, I'll offer an opinion ....

A stock on any rifle is just a handle. Unless it does all the right things required to get optimum performance out of a particular design, nothing is going to change but the ergonomics. That is a subjective evaluation and what works for one is not necessarily going to work for someone else.

If a stock has bedding issues, it matters not what material and form it takes. The proof is in the performance. People get the accuracy they want with factory stocks, with or without modification. The biggest factor remains the nut behind the trigger.

In the case of the Mini 14, what model, generation and barrel type is your rifle? All of these are factors in what works or not.

There are video and written reviews on ANY and EVERY after market item out there, including rifle stocks. Don't put much faith in the maker's comments on their product. Get a few reviews from users who have first hand experience with the product. It will surprise you how people have differing opinions on the same product.

This is why you see a lot of after-market products on the EE - people bought them, tried them and found they didn't live up to the hype.

The only accuracy improvement offered is maybe this company who makes barrels and mods etc..but then it becomes a NEW rifle IMO..

I think the latest series is better than the slim profile barrel , its now tapered...
I wouldn't buy a MINI 14 for for tac driving anyway...for plinking and hunting coyotes it should be fine....

Actually, tuned up and kitted out with a few goodies, the Minis hold their own - according to some videos I've watched.

The triggers can be worked on, bedding can be improved, etc. just like any other rifle. In the end, it's a handy, 'tacticool' carbine that can go hunting with you. Not that I recommend it, but in BC, you can hunt deer with it using SP ammo.

With a standard stock, the Mini is very poorly bedded, basically it's held in place by spring tension - similar to the M14 and Garand. It's one of the Mini's weaknesses. The more firmly a rifle is bedded, the more accurate the first shot will be, and the more repeatable subsequent shots will be, all other things being equal. An EBR style stock solves a lot of the bedding issues common to this type of rifle by providing a chassis system. One of the particular features of the Sage stock for the M14 is improved accuracy, without the need for a glass bedding job, or for an extra recoil lug to stabilize the action in the stock.

I had a mini 14 with an ebr stock and it didn't improve accuracy. I bought the stock from a dealer that received 3 at the time, but I never saw them after. I sold the rifle and I sold the stock for a premium on Europe.
