Mini 14... any known problems to look for?

183 series..... apparently from the 80's.

Meh. Wouldn’t interest me personally unless it was stupid cheap, accuracy wasn’t great on these early series.

Mini 14s are built like tanks, as said the newesr series 580 and up will the the thicker barrel and are more accurate. Look to see if they are ruger mags, aftermarket mags have been know to cause trouble.
They work good on what they were intended for ranch, truck gun with 2-3moa.

This right here. My 583 gets around this group size and is very reliable.

Also, speaking of mags, the tapco gen 2 are a very reliable alternative to Ruger mags. Factory mags used to be a tough find at times and we paid through the ass for them, importers and competitors have managed to bring the price down to “expensive” but not “pants of head crazy expensive”.

Downside to the tapco gen 2 is the ribs/base are thick and super tight going into some mag pouches. Ruger 20’s sit too deep in most STANAG magazine pouches. If you wanna buy once, cry once, my advice is Ruger factory 30’s. If you don’t run mags in pouches, magwedge makes a coupler to attach to 5 round mags together.
