I saw one about 5 years ago. Can't be many around, at least not on this continent. Ruger made them for export to countries where it's not legal to own a military cartridge, can't have a 223. Countries like Belgium, France, maybe Spain and some South American countries.

Curious as to how many are floating around out there. How many guys have seen one?

that's why Ruger did it

Uh, maybe cause they like the Ruger mini 14

Rembo, I'm fairly certain I saw one for sale several years ago in the Canadian Access to f a paper. They must be pretty rare alright...

In the wind up to the US AW ban in 1994, many distributors and manufacturers diverted export orders to US retailers because of the spike in demand.

I'd never heard of the .222 Rem Mini-14, but I've seen a lot of AR-15's in this caliber.

I have a salvage grade one. Was sold in Nunavut, local hunter bulged the barrel near the muzzle. Can't cut & crown, because of the barrel length. Thought that one day I just might attempt to do one of the accuracy conversions on the action.

Hey Rembo,I know where there is one right now.I saw it myself just before christmas. The guy who owns it doesen't live to far from me and he actually claimed it was really accurate. He said that he has owned a few in .223 and that there wasen't any comparison between them.

He might have been yanking my chain though as i never actually witnessed him shoot it and i know well from past experiances that what some people's idea of accurate is sure wasen't what mine was.

I half way thought about buying it just to see myself. He didn't out and out say he would sell it but i got the impression he might. He was also very interested in one of mine but i wouldn't swap that particular rifle.

Have a great night.

I don't get the bad rap the mini 14 gets; it's not terribly accurate, so what? It's a good plinker that doesn't break down. SKS isn't a .223, and doesn't come in stainless.

Ditto here...I've owned a Mini-14 and a Mini-30 and reallly liked them both. They were both really fun-accurate rifles.

Rembo - I haven't actually seen a .222 chambered "Mini", but I have an old Ruger brochure that lists it! :)

A buddy from work just sold his, he brought it over from France, nice rifle incl. folding stock and pinned large capacity mags. At the time I didn't have $800.
