Loads of photos of French police rocking Mini14's and I even saw one policeman carrying an open sighted, bolt action rifle with an almost fully wooded fore end. Are they still using old school Karabiner rifles?? At least the Tier One fellas had newer gear. Great video of the scumbag terrorist going down very hard in what looked like mainly 9 mm fire. He got hit with a flash bang square in the chest but still made it to the door where it appeared he got hit with perhaps a large caliber round because he got knocked down hard. Well done to the French teams, sounds like they have many more situations to come.

Mini-14? All I have seen is FAMAS rifles. I'd rather have a mini...

Perfect timing, I was about to post this photo asking what rifle this was.

Yes, interesting...I saw a couple of Mini14s in all of the coverage as well, but never really gave much thought to what I was actually seeing. And speaking of things that can be seen, do you have a link to the particular video you describe? The only footage I have seen is distant and quiet.

Both guns have pretty poor reputation. The G2 seems to have fixed a lot of the complaints but as far as I know the F1 is still the most common rifle in service outside the navy. I could be wrong, I honestly couldn't care less about their military.

I saw one photo a cop was holding an old looking sub machine gun. Looked almost like mp40. I guess there were so many police out on the manhunt. They needed whatever firepower they had available.

I was also surprised to see the minis.

Kool pictures. They kinda look like M1 carbines to me instead of mini14s though. But they are the 14s. It seems the police there aren't very standardized with what firearms they use from force to force and from patrol cop to swat team members. I thought the Beretta M12 sub machineguns were particularly neat. It was the first time I have seen them before.

I have been to Paris a few times in the past. I have only seen Famas being carried around (usually all over the places)
I would guess that after the shootings they are getting any gun they have on the streets to act as a deterrence.

There was some video footage on the CBC of officer's working the action on mini 14's.... Presumably making them clear while unloading. There was a lot of footage of various agencies..... I'm not sure which group had the mini 14.
