Just bought a mini 14 new model, here on gunnutz, and its failing to extract brass, the whole hime. Cleaned it, tried different shells, etc. all these bullets fly through my xcr, not one hiccup. Googled an saw guys talking about some having this issue, and then you pretty much gotta send it to ruger. Any other people with this issue?

I hate to ask the obvious... Did you check the extractor? Is the gun clean? Have you been shooting steel cased ammo?

You could try polishing the chamber...

I wouldn't suggest spending too much time trying to get it to work. I contacted the Canadian Ruger warranty centre and they sent me an extractor. When I installed it i noticed that the extractor plunger was bent as well. I tried to straighten the plunger and the rifle extracted better but still had its problems. In the end I sent it to Ruger and I will be letting them fix it.

I have had a few 580+ series rifle now and I guess I have been lucky not having any of these issues. I typically only run AE black box. Hope you aren't without your rifle or parts for too long. Good luck.

I had similar issues with two stainless mini's

I warrantied mine

Location Snapshot is the warranty center in Canada, Ruger will fold, don't take sh*t from them, tell them it's hunting season and you need this rifle. Forget fixing it, you want a new one, soon, they did it for me a few years back.

I bought new Mini 14 Ranch Rifle - Stainless Dec 2011.. Had the same problem and sent it to Snapshots under warranty, they said the gas port was out of spec and had to drill.
They fixed it very fast for me, paid the shipping to send it, they paid the shipping sending it back.

They are picky on what they can shoot, try American eagle.

Actually, the mini is probably the least picky gun around. Probably one of the most reliable guns of its type. I have had 6 or 7 of them. Never had a FTF/FTE with any of them. My current one runs like a top. If it is not working right, Ruger needs to make it right.
