Mini 14 light primer strike?

I picked up a used series 180 mini 14.
I took it out today and im getting light primer strikes on about 1 in every 3 rounds..I was using american eagle 55 grn full metal jackets..so I don't think its the ammo. I stripped it down and the firing pin isn't broken..

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Could possibly be a weak hammer spring or a worn firing pin.
I had a similar problem with a mini 30 and surpluss ammo.The heavy laquered primers were an issue. I changed the hammer spring and problem solved.

Do you recall where you got the replacement hammer spring?

Wolff Gunsprings. com. I had the same problem. The extra power hammer spring fixed it.

Make sure your gun is going into battery properly.
