Good day all,
I know Mini 14s are not known for their accuracy, but this is getting silly. I but a black patch in the center of an IPSC target, and this rifle will only put 2 out of 3 shots on the whole target at 100yds. Groups have no consistancy whatsoever. Currently using 45 and 55 gr Winchester ammo and the rifle is topped with a new B&L Elite 3200 scope in a B Square mount. I am not overly familiar with this rifle so I was wondering if there is something else I should be checking. I had an older one with a Pachmayer sidemount and an antique bushnell scope, and it would shoot a 2-3 inch group. Are they really that inconsistant, or is there something I should be looking at?
Thanks for your time.

what does the gun shoot with the iron sigts. My B-square mount had a tendancy to shoot loose so you were usually guessing where it would hit next.

The rifle has had the rear sight removed to accommodate a different scope mount by the previous owner. I didnt really think much of the old mount as the front end was not secure whatsoever and the whole base could pivot on the bolt run thru the rear sight wings. I planned on ordering a rear sight assy tommorrow just to see if I could sort it out. I was wondering if there was any history with gas blocks or stocks or whatever causing this sort of thing. The mount does not appear to have shifted as it still looks good on the bore sighter (for what thats worth...)
Thanks again for your time...

Had the same trouble.....I think it was a B-square mount. Brass would hit the mount on ejection and this seemed to be enough to jump the scope (or the mount) around. Same ammo would shoot much tighter with irons.
