I have an older Mini 14 with the peep sight , my question is, can I drill out the rear sight to get a better sight picture , Im finding the stock hole is to tiny and hard to get a quick sight picture,
I routinely drill out my receiver sight peep inserts. When hunting it is common for folks to leave the insert out and use the tapped hole which is quite large. Modern peep sights are often called ghost rings because the hole is large and the ring is fairly small like my sights without an insert.
Take the sight up in stages until your happy. Remember it is hard to add metal but taking it away is easy.
Note please I have no experience with your particular sight so can offer no advice on on the actual process or offer any precautions.
you *might* want to buy the replacement part before you break out the drill. sight parts from manufacturers are usually pretty cheap, and a spare may be handy if you overdo it or want to sell the gun someday.
sharp/new drill bits and some cold blue to to take the shine off are in order.
