I have a Springfield Armory SOCOM 16 in FDE, and I thinking of making a smaller SOCOM 16 with my Mini 14 that is now in a Sparta stock.

Is there anyone here that have done this?

Hogue makes FDE stocks for the Mini 14, but I can't find a source here in Canada.....there was some OD ones on Amazon, but the are out of stock right now....

I would also like to change the handguard for an UltiMAK Scout rail....but again, facing the ITAR regulations to import one.....

What about rear sight and flash hider?

Here is a nice duo..........

Finally....that took a while.....but I'm happy :)

Thanks to the people who helped me get my Mini 14 a new look

Upgrades:

- Hogue Overmolded Stock in FDE
- Tech-Sights MINI200
- Accu-Strut
- Amega Scout Rail

Will most like go with a red dot since it will only used at 100 yards max....... will get a scout scope for the SOCOM

Thanks guys... can't wait for the weekend to bring it to the range

Now, my latest project is getting myself a hybrid AR15 Pistol in 5.56/9mm (7.5inch/4.5inch barrels) .....another uneasy one

I enjoy the fact that you have to have patience and not only money to achieve your goal.....

Do you find the accustrut helps the newer minis in accuracy?

Everything stabilizing the barrel on a Mini will help to an extend. (From what I read it does, but I do not shoot from a bench and never have compared with/without..... so, I believe what I read online) The most important part for me was to make the barrel look less "skinny"

Definitely the rifle looks better with the accustrut.

This might not be the most approproate place to ask, but where did you get the accustrut and how much?

Thank you.

I just got my second Mini 14. I had a blue/ wood Ranch 583 that I loved, but had to trade away for something else I was lusting after. I ended up making another trade to get another mini back into my safe (580, stainless, hogue stock...ill be looking for a wood stock though.)

I dont feel the need to do much to it (thats why I love it) but the accustrut is on my list for sure.

Not really a matching pair, but here are my Mini Target and my Dominion Socom, both set up with scout scopes. The .308 has taken a single deer, and likely won't be used for any more hunting, aside from perhaps coyotes. The Mini is a favourite coyote rifle and has taken many dogs, as well as a few other assorted varmints.

Both of these guns benefitted somewhat (the .308 more than the .223) from the addition of the railed handguard replacements, which clamp to the barrel for mounting and seem to confer some of the same stiffening advantage as a strut.
