When I was 16 I used to spend hours at LeBaron drooling over a few guns which I slowly purchased. My first was a Defender pistol grip and more followed. One that I never got around to buying was the Mini 14 Stainless with the folding stock. The A team gun..lol

The Mark Lepine killed all those women with one. I heard it was going prohibited. I was stationed out of country at the time and never looked in to it again.

Someone told me they are still available and aren't even restricted. Is this true?

Hey buddy, yeah you bet they're non restricted with an 18.5"+ barrel.

The 185 series stainless folders are rare, but they pop up here on the ee every so often. I've got one and have quite a few pics of it on Instagram if you want to check it out. @arm.and.gun the fit and finish on them is pretty great too.

Cheers

They stopped making them ages ago (mid 80's, IIRC), and they've become quite collectible. They pop up on the EE every now and then, but expect to pay a premium for them. Last one I saw went for north of $1500, IIRC.

The modern heavier barrel Mini-14's have a better rep for accuracy.

Sorry for the hijack... nice stainless folder Mini 14 on Instagram. Did the Accustrut work well and did you go with an adjustable gas block?

And I agree, the fit and finish is surprisingly good. The folder in particular clicks very positively with no wobble at all.

The Butler Creek folder is surprisingly good. I also got an ATI stock on a gun I purchased. My wife loves it but I don't so I put it back into a factory polymer stock. I know you are asking about the original folder but they are rare and quite expensive.

haha!

god i loved that gun on A-Team!

i so badly wanted a stainless mini14 on a folding stock when i was growing up.
so much so that i made the same gun but with the 10/22 back in the early 90's.

now i kinda wanna get a stainless mini14 and put it on a butler creek folding stock.... gah!
