Is there anyone who sells American made 7.62 by 39mm ammo?
My Son has a Mini-30 and it won't chamber the European ammo because of the bullet diameter difference.

7.62x39 = 7.62x39

7.62x39 uses a .311 bullet, but some uses .308

You are better off sending it to a smith to check the specs and see if it need to rechamber it to the proper size.

Either size bullet will chamber in any Mini. If the rifle the OP is referring to won't chamber anything, it's likely some other problem like a broken case.

No case is stuck in the chamber, the rifle just won't chamber the European ammo without pushing on the bolt handle.
I emailed Ruger and they said their rifles are chambered to saami spec and NOT to fire the European ammo because it can cause pressure spikes, this is from Ruger itself.

I had some strange behaviour from my mini-30 a little while ago, which may be similar to what you're experiencing.

my solution:
1. take everything apart and go crazy with the cleaning and lubing. Especially the lube. Everyone likes lube.
2. look at the back of the reciever. That soft OEM recoil spring plus huge gas port bushing was hammering the reciever into the back of the rifle. I actually had a little mushrooming going on. Cleaned it up with a file and it worked fine again. Plus a couple weeks later I got a bushing and spring kit.

did wonders for the accuracy and recoil as well.

and a stronger hammer spring means no more mis-fires with the surplus ammo.

Do you let the bolt handle snap forward or do you ease it ahead?

My three year old mini 30 fires anything and all 7.62x39, without a problem.Send it to a repair centre, like the previous post 7.62x39=7.62x39.
All manufacturers will steer you away from mill.ammo.

My latest Mini-14 periodically failed to chamber a round because the side of the operating handle would bind very slightly against the inside of the handguard. Simple fix, maybe you could check this.
