I know nothing about these so please school and link me. I know these do come factory but can they be built off of a mini or what have people done. Someone has referred to a custom built one in a different post on CGN.

If you have a Mini-14 in .223 and want one in 6.8, either sell it or trade it for one in 6.8. Since it's available from the factory, I wouldn't bother with trying to convert one.

I disagree. Keep the mini-14, buy the 6.8 SPC and then look carefully for a good deal on a mini-30. :D:D

So a conversion is pointless then to a used one I aeeume from a financial aspect? Any idea who carries them in 6.8? Thanks for the input!!!!

Yes, mostly from a financial aspect, but I would also assume that the factory 6.8 rifles are "tuned" (not exactly the right word, but you get what I mean) for the 6.8 ammo (I haven't had the chance to inspect them side by side though, so I'm not 100% on this).

Two of my Brobee-Mini-14GB-Clones, both in 6.8SPC (stainless/synthetic, with A2 flash hiders and my custom made bayo lug sight block) are sitting on the rack over at the Calgary Shooting Centre (site sponsor).

D'oh! Just saw their post above. I guess there's only one left now...:)

Cheers,

Brobee

Just curious how these shoot? My experience with Rugers m-14's havent been good ones.

There is a parallel thread to this that will probably answer your questions. Certainly lots of opinions on the mini, accuracy, and different models.

The Ruger Mini 14- What is wrong with it?
