Hi, I'm looking at buying a trigger kit for my cz 452 and was wondering if there is a minimum legal trigger pull weight.

I've seen some kits with the lightest spring being 0.75-1.0 lbs but was wondering if there was a law against too light a weight.

I remember hearing something special about 2.5 lbs but I can't remember if I were imagining that or if it holds some truth.

Thanks.

No minimum legal trigger weight. It all depends what you use it for. I personally would not go under the 2.5lb mark for hunting unless I was varmint hunting.

if you have a light trigger keep the chamber empty
I keep chamber empty with a 4-1/2 lb trigger

have you ever stepped on a tree root, rock, ice, mud etc and gone for a little trip
if chamber is empty no problem, you only might get a chuckle from you buddies

a light tap on the ground will set a light trigger off and on some guns safety can be so smooth that you can push it from on to off easy
and when in a stand, if one is in the chamber Safety ON

I have an 8mm which has a 2.5 lb trigger pull I use for hunting. I keep a round in the chamber but I make sure is decocked. It is only a matter of lifting the bolt handled and re setting it if needed.

regardless of how light the trigger is it should be safe, ie not go off when you bump the gun. if you are buying a kit then it should be ok but if you play around with a stock gun to lighten the pull then you should def. test it out first. i lighten the pull on my stevens down to about 3 lbs and tested it by slamming the butt pretty hard on the floor to make sure it doesn't go off

On my CZ452 all I did was cut a coil and a half off the spring, grind it to a taper, then back off the nut that sets trigger spring tension to the max. Roughly 2.5 lb trigger now. If you've adjusted it already to as light as it will go with the stock spring, then either shortening or swapping out the spring is the way to go. For some reason I do not find excessive creep in my trigger, so I didn't bother with the kit and the tubular shims.

Thanks for the info guys.

Grizzlypeg, I'll give what you suggested a try as well, seems kind of overpriced for a few tiny springs and tubes.

Make sure you have tried fully backing off the adjustment nut before declaring the trigger pull too heavy. I seem to recall that you need to pull back on the spring to get it to turn the last bit. Some guys have reported they remove the nut itself to get it even lighter without modifying the spring. That way you can always put the nut back on. You are also free to find a similar but lighter spring from some other source and experiment.

Thanks again Grizzlypeg, I'm trying to hold of on buying the kit if I can, I'll try the adjustments and give it a whirl this weekend.
