minimum trigger weight on an M14

specifically an M305,
Just curious what the lowest weight i can safely take it down to is.
I had heard the figure of 4lb's but im not certain

My recollection is that the lowest safe weight is 4.5 lbs. Any lower than that and you risk bump fires.

Bump fires are caused by failing to follow through on the shot(that's letting go of the trigger too soon resulting in your finger hitting the trigger again during recoil. Only dangerous if you're not paying attention to where the muzzle is pointed. Very exciting just the same.), regardless of the trigger weight.
A smooth, crisp, creepless, trigger is far more important than it's weight. However, 4 or 4.5 is plenty light enough for a battle rifle.
