Minor PF 9mm and Recoil Springs

Great post again BC Rider. You ought to write a book or collect a number of these posts and place them in one thread. Save a lot of misinformation. To the OP I have shot thousands of 147+gr 9MM bullets out of my M&P Pro with no ejection issues what so ever. Your gun should run with ant ,oad you develop over 125PF.

There is no doubt that it will run fine with the stock spring but to get the most advantage out of using a minor PF load you need to match the spring to the load, If you built a higher HP engine for your car to race with would you leave the stock tires on it just because they will work or would you go with a wider softer tire to get the HP to the track to get the most out of the engine you just built?

Like I said earlier to beat the gun up with a minor PF load the spring would need to be so soft that it wouldnt have enough strength to pull the next round off the mag and close. Even with a full load and the lightest spring available made for a particular gun I doubt you would do any damage and it would take many rounds to do it even if you did. The amount of rearward pressure is a lot less than people think, even a 10mm with factory loads can have the slide held forward with just thumb pressure without injury, any recoil spring made for a particular gun should have enough resistance to slow the slide enough after the breach opens and the initial pressure is dissipated to not cause damage.

According to Wolff the factory spring in an M&P is a 16 and lighter replacement springs from them are only available in 12, 14 and 15.
