Hey, I'm 16 and I have my minors lisence. I always thought it just allowed me to hunt with a firearm with my father. Can I take one of my guns (under his name and PAL) and drive up north myself and go shoot some bunnies? I have my hunting for deer, bear and small game aswell. If someone can fill me in on what I can and cannot do it would be great. Thanks

i had one way back when. at that time it let you do anything with a firearm that you could legally do with a PAL aside from actually purchasing them. that was over 12 years ago that i 1st got mine though so things may have changed in that time. I stopped caring once i got my rpal

i just realized i never answered yoru question. yes unless rules have changed since i was young... wow that made me feel old.... you can go hunting by yourself provided you have the proper permits and permission to borrow any guns. only have to be verbal. if you are ever stopped by a LEO show them your license and if they have any issue they can contact your parents. i had a cop stop me once when i was walking in our feidl shooting gophers. I told him to get off our property cuz he was driving in the seeded feild. lol. i think that may have been why he called my parents... but my dad told him the same thing i did :p

They sure have ruined things for the kids!
When I was eight years old my uncle gave me a rusty single shot 22.
I had to carry it on to the city bus, LOL
I was told it was fine as long as the bolt was removed.
Now I am 44 and I am nervous just carry a rifle out to my pickup truck!
It is getting harder to teach my nephews proper handling of firearms because all they know are video games.
As well as television, one can hope that one day our government would wake up and realize it would be better to let the kids out of the house and go hunting.
I have been thinking of purchasing some flint lock rifles to give my nephews.
It is always good to have young people hunting and learning about being responsible.

my kids have been shooting since 4 years old now my 14yo has his youth licence I firmly believe kids should be introduced to guns it gives them extreme responsibility. Remember the same course for the youth is exactly the same as the adult PAL just a few restrictions. My kids play the video games but when near the guns they have a completly differnt attitude ACTS&PROVE without asking and even they catch me doing thins wrong sometimes.
Sorry to go off topic.
Regarding your licence....
Check the restrictions on you YPAL im sure they have must haves guarden's permission, must have gun owners permission and all documents.
Now regarding hunting I am not 100% sure but if I am not mistaken you have to be within clear communcation range without any sort of electronic device of an adult with a PAL. but dont quote me on this one.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER it's not the gun that kills, it's the finger connected to the human.

Nope that is incorrect. Only need supervision without a minors license or when using restricted/prohibs

Minor’s Licence
A minor’s licence permits the borrowing of non-restricted firearms (ordinary rifles and shotguns) for the following activities:

•target practice
•organized shooting competitions
•hunting
•being instructed in the use of firearms

Using Firearms Without a Minor’s Licence
Without a minor’s licence, the minor may still use firearms of any class providing they are under the direct and immediate supervision of someone who is licensed to possess that class of firearm. This generally means that the licensed person must be close enough to them to take immediate action to prevent any unsafe or illegal use of the firearm.

This provision affects cadets and members of other youth organizations who receive instruction in the use of firearms or who take part in target practice. It also applies to young people who go hunting or who use restricted or prohibited firearms in organized shooting competitions.
