Minox scopes, anyone got one?

I picked up a 4-20 SF 50 from P&D on the weekend for my Ruger No1 in 300 Weatherby. Once it warms up abit I will give it a try and let you know how it worked.

I find the Minox line to be very well priced considering the quality of the lenses (Zeiss owned Schott). We expect this line to really take off once the quality is known by the consumer and the brand recognized. Phil.

I bought the 3-15x42 at Cabelas last month when it was on sale for $399. Put it on top of my Rem 700 VSF and brought it to the range. Everything is excellent out to 8x magnification, then it starts to lose its clarity / focus. At 15x I couldn't make out the target clearly at 100 yards.

I brought it home and took it off the rifle and tried a similar test holding the scope... same thing, looking at my neighbour’s fence 50 yards away it lost focus at 8x and got worse as I dialled it up.

I returned the Scope to Cabelas and it's in the process of getting refunded as we speak.

I read a lot of reviews prior to buying and they were mixed, some really good, some not so much but I thought I'd take a chance...

Anyways, I replaced it with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 and it is awesome. IMHO it is far better than the Minox ZA5.

I found I had a similar problem with mine and it didn’t make sense to me. I started threading out the eye pieces and after some adjustment it was clear even at 15 x at 100 yards...

Jeff,

was there no parallax adjustment on that scope? Once you get up to 12 times mag and beyond there is often an adjustable objective or focus knob to turn.

I apologise if I am trying to teach you how to suck eggs.

It's all good :) and no, there was no adjustable parallax, this I believe is the problem. The Viper I have does have that adjustement and it works excellent.
