I was looking at a Minox scope on the cabelas Canada website.
Thinking of buying one for my new rifle that hasn't arrived yet (Savage bolt action in .30-06).
Seems that these scopes have Schott German glass in them.
Wasn't Minox the name of those little cold war spy cameras used by MI5 and MI6?
Anybody have any experience (good or bad) with the Minox brand of scopes?

We carry the Minox line of scopes and have most models in stock. They haven't made our web site yet but aour prices are competitive. I am very impressed with the quality of the glass and think once they catch on the prices will rise. Schott is owned by Zeiss and makes some of the best lenses in the world. Phil.

1. Yes, Minox made those great miniature cameras.
2. I've got a pair of Minox binoculars that aren't from one of their more expensive model lines and they are very nice optics.

I have a pair of Minox binos, so does my brother and one of my sons. I also have a Minox spotting scope. They offer excellent optics at very reasonable prices. I am only guessing, but I expect the scopes are very good quality as well.

Just played with one 20 minutes ago, if you are big into tactile feel on the knobs Minox is NOT for you, the clicks are all different, when you move the knob you get a loose big clunk then little clicks, then when you go to return the same thing happens, so the clunk is not specific to any one are of the rotation just happens when you first move the knob, feels absolutely aweful to me and the rest of the clicks some are small some are more noticeable during the whole rotation. lenses were very very sharp but the fit and finish and overall quality of the rest of the optic is absolutely reflected in the Price, which I think will go down with time not up. Value buy? I think a used Leupold is a much better purchase.

Never looked through there scopes but there Binoculars are absolutly the best buy for the dollar, stunningly clear optics

Spoke to a dealer and he said that Minox is making their debut into shooting optics on the cheap in order to grab a chunk of market and prices will rise once word spreads about the quality of optical sighting instrument Minox is.

Apparently it's a good time to buy a Zeiss, Swarovski quality scope at Bushnell prices.

I will look at your price list P of PDent and you could very well be hearing from me soon.:)

Maybe with a new competitor in the game Zeiss and Swarovski will bring their prices down out of the stratosphere.

I have a Leupold Long Range 4.5-14, a bausch + Lomb 4000 1.5-5, an a minox z3. I had it sighted in 3 shots and did not have the little big click experience. Possibly there was a problem with the one you were playing with.

Twenty years ago or so, Swarovski optics were way below Zeiss and Leica in price, with comparable quality. When their name became better known, and the good reviews came in, look what happened to their prices.

Assuming that Minox optics will be quality stuff (I love my Minox binocs, used extensively for over ten years) who wants to bet that they will employ the same strategy?
