I recently bought a used S&W 17-2 .22LR and it dosen't fire 50% of the time. The trigger cycles properly and there is a faint round indent on the rim of the case. Is there any way to adjust the hammer strike force?

pull the grips and make sure the strain screw is turned all the way in.

its common to find these turned out to lighten the pull.

Yup, the classic way to give a S&W wheelgun a lighter double action pull. Trick is to find the balance between the lighter pull and still giving the hammer enough strike to ignite the primer.

NAA.

Rimfire S&Ws generally don't respond well to having the strain screw backed out in my experience.
