So far I have been lucky, and my SKSs came with these handy toolkits.

But time and again I come across other peoples SKS rifles that are sold from dealers that have their kits removed, and some even have been missing the cleaning rods...and then listed separately as a replacement part.

Like WTF? Is dicking over a customer for $10 - $15 worth it in the long run?

You know who you are, and I'm watching you. [/rantoff]

Do people actually USE the POS cleaning kits that come with milsurp rifles?

On any rifle that I've bought, it just stays in the case and collects dust. I use a proper rod and brushes.

I love getting someone who doesn't know any better to remove the cleaning kit from my SKS. I always have a band-aid ready for them because I'm a kind and sensitive person.

Although I've never used an SKS nor its cleaning kit, god knows I've cursed the gods and the guy who sold me my SVT-40 without the tool. I've mared the wood around the locking pin during breakdown, seperating the reciever from the stock, using an adjustable wrench. I can't wait till the tool comes in!! My M1 Garand tool is invaluable.

Moral: Don't cut the old tools/kits short. They're still good.

i do ... even if i dont use it , im still entitled to have it since it originally came with the rifle.

like my car , it comes with an old cell phone , i dont use it cos i got my own new cell phone but i still want it cos someday i might sell the car and the purchaser may want to use it.

Well the ones that come with the SKS/AK rifles are pretty darn clever IMHO.
No need to buy anything else for these rifles other then some cleaner/oil, and some patches.

And BTW the rod for it is a one piece rod. :D

Yeah it sure would be handy to have a little cleanning kit in the butt of the gun, there incase you needed to take something outta the barrel (obstruction).

Calum what do you do when you are not angry? lol

Sleep on the skins of my enemies, and blissfully dream to the sound of the lamentation of their women...unless it is a full moon then I have to feed. :p

Truth be told in person I'm a Zen guy. :D

But when pressure mounts I throw a transgendered Valkyrie on the back of my murdercycle and head off the the local range and dump 200 rounds of Czech surplus into a 200 yard steel ram, and hopefully quell any angry thoughts I may have. :D
