Missing item from new handgun case - Silly Noob Question?

Hi All,

Just picked up my new handgun yesterday, and in going through the unboxing, i noticed a missing item that i have seen people pull out time and time again...an envelope with a spent shell casing from the test fire.

Are not all firearms tested before shipping, or is this a U.S thing only?

I've purchased lots of new firearms that lacked an actual shell casing. Sometimes they just had a piece of a target, and sometimes nothing at all. I wouldn't sweat it.

Thanks. Wasn't something that concerned me, but having never purchased a handgun before, you expect itto be there when you see it in everyone's videos during their unboxing. Was just curious.

That is mainly a US thing, some states require the manufacturer to provide that casing and requires the end user to submit it to the police so that it can be entered into a data base for forensic identification agains casings recovered at crimes.
