Mission Rod and Gun Club have just announced the date of their first Speed Steel match (a variant of Steel Challenge) which is being held this month on Saturday 19th April.
For those of you who are not familiar with Speed Steel shooting this is probably the most exciting handgun shooting discipline going and is all about speed and accuracy against steel targets. The match this month will be shot over five stages of various target configurations. Competitors will shoot each stage six times with their best five times for each stage going towards their aggregate time for the overall match. The distances to targets will vary from 10-50 yards, with sizes varying from 6” 8” 12” round and 18x24” rectangular steel plate.
Bring as many magazines or speed loaders as possible. If you are going to shoot this event we recommend you use the lightest loads you can muster as there is no power factor requirement. Note: Sorry NO magnums allowed.
The match fee is $15, and is open to non members (there is no additional drop in fee for non members). In terms of ammo requirements, the round count for the event is 150, but depending on your skill level you should budget to bring between 200 and 250 rounds per gun for the match.
We've opened the match up to 7 different classes to encourage as many people as possible to give it a try.
Mission Speed Steel classes:
1. Stock 22 pistol/revolver
2. Open 22 pistol/revolver
3. Stock center fire pistol
4. Open center fire pistol
5. Stock revolver
6. Open revolver
7. Single action cowboy
Match start time: 9:00am – match briefing 8:30am sharp.
Depending on numbers we might run a second squad in the afternoon starting at 1:00pm with a match briefing at 12:30pm.
If you are interested in shooting this match email speedsteel at(@) shaw.ca as we would like to get an idea on numbers before the match.
Further details about the event will be posted at missionrodandgun.com
