i had bin looking for a part on ee and found one, seller asked for either emt or money order.

when i read the ee forum, it stated that if a deal doesn't feel right, back out.

as i do not know how to use emt i decided to use money order.

the seller says to send money order to address he doesn't live at and he lives in a different city. claimed it was his parents house which is fine, but first i do not know that for a fact and second i do not want someone to misplace or loose the order.... so i opted to back out of the deal cuz i was uncomfortable.

now seller is leaving me a neg feedback...which i have no idea what that means or where i can view it.

i honestly didn't mean to upset anyone or make them feel i was pulling their chain. i didn't feel comfortable and i was under the understanding it is my choice. the seller made it seem like i was obligated to purchase the part no matter what.

is there a better way i could of dealt with the situation?

i don't want people thinking im running around and just trying to make deals go bad, without any intention of ever buying anything.

I have since purchased the part from a different seller who gave me his straight info, no double addresses and had a great ee experience.

well that what the seller is claiming he is doing and is now sending me msgs saying "stand up and be counted"....which i have no idea what that means or how it has anything to do with buying a part. and i should read the other rules of ee etc...

Sounds like he's trying to bully you into finishing the transaction.

My opinion of any non face to face transaction is that either party has the right to cancel the transaction if something just doesn't feel right. Chances are you are NOT being ripped off, but these things do happen.

However, what sort of trader rating does the other party have? Is the person a regular? Have you explained your reticence?

yes i have explained to the seller my stand. so far gottn 2 msgs in under 5 min reaming me out.

i had no idea how to look at his feedback thing. now that i know how to look he has 1 neutral feedback and rest r good.

i am not trying to make this into a bashing thread or anything.

i just want to make sure this misunderstanding doesn't happen again, and if i did something wrong i wana make sure i don't do it again.

If you're upfront with the guy and tell him you're not comfortable with his terms, he should be okay with that. If he's not...well.. that's his problem.

Plenty of people post items for sale for their parents here on CGN, both myself and a good friend of mine do fairly frequently, so there is likely not anything suspicious about him asking to send payment to a different address.

Now for him to threaten to leave negitive feedback is a little bit of overkill in my opinion... neutral for backing out of the deal, but not a negitive. Fortunetly he appears to have not followed through on his claims yet. Just let him know you are new to this and feel uncomftorable sending the money to another address, and would prefer to send it directly to him, rather then backing out entirely.

Words of advice... If you are ever feeling like sombody you are dealing with is a bit shady, just check their trader rating and post count, which are on the left side of the screen under their name. The higher it is, the less likely you are to be dealing with a tire kicker or scammer. People with over 50 -100 posts and 5- 10 trader rating are pretty well always good to deal with on this site.

Hope this helps.

People who are posting for a friend usually say so in the ad... If he's not, there may be more to this then meets the eye...

There are lots of scammers out there nobody needs them

If It doesn't feel right back out... Tell the seller why it doesn't feel right and explain that bullying really sucks... and that you will leave him feedback as well for that..

Yes, I have explained to the seller my stand. So far (I've) gotten 2 msgs in under 5 min reaming me out. I had no idea how to look at his feedback thing. Now that I know how to look he has 1 neutral feedback and rest (are) good...I just want to make sure this misunderstanding doesn't happen again, and if I did something wrong I want to make sure (that) I don't do it again.

You should leave the Seller a negative trader rating.

Along with the negative rating you should leave detailed comments to explain the reasons that this was - for you - a negative experience. The reason your Seller only has one neutral rating is because people are afraid to speak the truth for fear of reprisal. This Seller needs to be outed for what he has done. Everyone will see that you were first to tell the story in the form of the negative rating and by starting this thread. It won't be the end of the world if you get a reciprocal negative rating from such a rogue.

There is no excuse for acting enraged over something so minor, and the only way it can be prevented is to tell the truth in the Seller's Trader Rating.

Yup.. the feedback rating is a two way street. If he leaves you a negative for not buying, leave him one also for trying to blackmail you into getting in a transaction you're not fully comfortable with.

Round and round we go... so he might as well just give it up and save his own rep in the process.
