Hello milsurp gurus. I am wondering if anyone has any experience/knowledge regarding Mitchell's Mausers? Good or bad, I'd certainly like to know before dropping money on something that I am going to need to import.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to your responses!

I've had no personal experience, but I've never heard anything good about them. Overpriced put-togethers.

They are renumbered Russian Captured K98's sold as originals with misleading advertising. If you are looking for a good looking K98, grab a Norwegian refurbed K98 from P&S Militaria. They are German K98's that were captured and refurbed by the Norwegians after the war. Very nice looking K98's and you will save money.

This topic comes up about every 6 months. Maybe we need a sticky?

Oh. Wow. That's very contradictory to an email that I got from Questar, where they endorsed Mitchell's. So basically, it's just all false advertising and RC stuff... I guess their K98 Snipers with original scopes are just too good to be true. Damn.

No one has had any good experience with them? Thanks for all the posts so far. Good to know that there is more to this.

Their guns are all very serviceable and very faked. If that's what you want, then by all means buy one. Just don't make the mistake of thinking you are getting an original collectible.

Basically, think of mitche''s Mausers as a "Miltech" except with borderline fraudulent advertising practices.

find a nice k98 israeli 308 in canada. you can always buy 308. the 3006 k98's from norway are also good. they have new barrels like the israeli guns.

Hi

They are pretty rifles that are very likely to work very well. They are Mausers after all.

Since I can buy the same basic rifle for 1/5th the price, I see no real reason to buy one. If I decide to I can make mine look every bit as good as theirs for less than $50.

Serviceable rifles, but well overpriced due to the $ they have to pay their creative writing team (aka, their BS artists).

Save some $ by refinishing a K98 RC yourself and then write your own story about it, I know, it was Hitlers own rifle captured by Marshall Zhukov and later sold as surplus by rogue elements of the KGB, yeah that's the ticket.

Throw some C broad arrow proofs on it and then it was also captured and used by Billy Bishop in Korea.

Hi

There are a number of reasons to buy a K98.

The first is to get a shooter. Mitchels flunks on that one. Way to expensive.

Next is to get a legitimate collector rifle. They also flunk on that one. The stuff they have done to it eliminates any collector value.

The last would be to have a wall hanger. Mitchels are good looking, and compared to some "art" I've seen are reasonably priced. Of course I could do the same thing for a lot less ...
