Was reading a copy of Guns and Ammo earlier and I saw an ad for Mitchel's Mausers. They were advertising "collector's grade all matching" K98k's for something like $399.

That set off a red flag. I got to thinking "how in the hell could they value an unissued mint condition K98k with "Nazi Markings" for as low as $399. Seems to me these are a scam of some sort. Can someone fill me in on these guys?

THEY ARE REPRO JUNK

They are russian captures with Yugo bolts, and scrubbed renumbered and reblued parts.

Maybe I shouldnt be so hard on them.......ive heard that they area nice shooting gun, but not matching or historically accurate in any sense of the word.
So if you just want a shooter go for it, but nothing more then that.

I dont know. Ive never seen a Mitchells worth owning. Look over at gunboards.....been weighed and measured there lots....and ALWAYS comes up short

Forgeries, but they do look nice. There is nothing collectible about them at all.

It seems "collector's grade" and "matching" is all a point of view to them.

I might pick one up if they're good enough shooters. I would love an all matching K98k, but my wallet wouldn't :p. Out of my price range for now.

As pretty as they look I would personally never buy a thing off them because they purposely lie and scam the unsuspecting new guy out of his money. Just cannot in good conscience support such a company.

Cleaned up rifles loose their collector's value...besides,most are not German- Czech or Yugos...occasionally with a SS dead head stamp :))))) Buy you a set of waffenamp stamps instead :)

found in my 2005 guns&ammo surplus firearms edition....f:P:

Serbian crest dates to 1943... no mention that the rifle was made in 1950+.

Also, not true that they were made on German tooling.

Mods, for the love of god please delete this thread, the words "Mitchell's Mauser's" should never disgrace this forum.

Other than our very own Globeco, these are the worst bubba, liars out there.

Yup, better off with an M48 if you want something new. The only thing I would want in that add, is the mauser strap, they don't seem to be on the market much in Canada lately.
