I read elsewhere it was okay to say, use my 3913 slide/bbl. Assembly on a 659 and also the reverse. The thread abruptly ended with no mention of any issues to watch for.

Has anyone here with a few smith 2nd/3rd generation autos mixed n matched slide/bbl? Is there any combination that physically fits that isn't safe for any reason?

Thanks.

Hmmmm, while it may work wouldn't putting a 3913 (great gun by the way, I used to own one and still kick myself for selling it) on a different frame technically be creating a new, prohibited, firearm? Not losing sleep over it, personally I think you should be able to do what you want with your own stuff, just suggesting that an eager (or over eager) person who was in serious need of a life, could make a fuss about it. Technically, I think the 3 issues you'd need to be cautious of would be 1) feed angle, 2) various safety actuator locations - Gen 3's have those little levers that rise and fall and 3) dust cover length/slide travel. Oh yes, one more thing would of course be slide width - single stack slides were narrower, weren't they?
