So I picked up an NEA upper hand guard from SFRC on sale, and I'm wondering if there are any compatibility issues with mating it with a lower from someone else like FAB or BC tactical? Also, with a cowitness set up with a red dot, would anyone zero the irons at 50 and the dot at 100 yards?
 
just be sure the upper and lower do not touch. some are designed to interface with each other, the NEA does not touch anything but the rifle.

why would you bother to zero a red dot and irons differently? not like at that distance the accuracy is really that different anyways from point of aim to point of impact.
 
Just curious powerwagon. I've never played with a red dot or a co witness setup. I know with some of the fancier optics, there are multiple reticles. I was thinking about a poor man's setup. 150 yards maybe. Does anyone know how the BC tactical lower sits? That would likely be the combo I would go for
 
the BC tactical does not sit low enough to co-witness. just get a Aimpoint mini or a Holosun. mount it on the rail without a riser and just shoot it. you will never use the irons anyways.
 
The NEA upper and the FAB lower can both be used without issue. I have seen that kind of a set up and they actually look pretty good. You can co-witness as well.

Does anyone know if the BC tactical lower and NEA upper are compatible with each other?
 
the lower has a rib that interfaces with their upper. i sold mine a long time ago, but it may just fit under the NEA upper.

to be honest, a metal lower is not good. if you spend the day shooting alot in the sun, it gets very hot and uncomfortable. after a couple of mags running a stage, you will be surprised how much heat they absorb.
 
I have a fab defense lower and a upper NEA upper kicking around, I'll try it on this week. It fits but it leaves some gaps between the 2 parts. It did with the black CSA lower handguard too
