I may have a line of a stock set to put on my Sportered LB No.4 Mk1*. From what I can tell, they are Dark, Indian and most likely Walnut. But from the pic i saw, they might be for a Mk2. Now i know there are differences that can effect strength, so if they are Mk2 stocks, how could I modify them for my Mk1*?

It was a pain in the ass when I helped my buddy do his. Thank god for dremel tools and rubber hammers! Had to carve a bit of wood out to get the forestock and buttstock to fit. Then after beating the stock on all was good. Ended up looking decent, the rifle is a 1950 LB No. 4 Mk1*.

On the mk1* the buttstock has a different style of socket, a bunch of material needs to be removed from the left side I think. The lower forestock was too narrow in the trigger area, had to widen it. Also the forestock needs to be relieved near the front of the right side of the reciever (up by the chamber), that swell on the mk1* receiver needs to be replicated on the MK2 wood. All in all it was a royal pain in the ass. For my buddy it was worth it though and I guess that is all that matters.

HI LE41,

As DAR701 said, it can be done but it's quite easier to find the rigght forend instead.

I did turn a Mk2 forend into a Mk1 once to see how much fun it would be. It worked and the end result was ok but I won't do this again unless I'm stuck on a desert island and my life depends on it :D

OK, I talked to the guy, from what he told me they are Mk1 stocks. So I ordered one. By the way, its Frontier who has them. they had three, now they have two:D.
