I recently acquired an old rusty MLE (I had posted previously about the weird attachment on it) Anyways, while stripping it down I found out that the front guard screw was seized. I tapped, I used penetrating oil, I cursed and begged it to move, but it wasn't budging. I broke down and drilled the head of the screw off. My question is.... Will the rest of the screw let the forestock come off? It doesn't want to move. I have only given it a few gentle taps downward when the thought came to me. it needs to come forward a bit as it drops doesn't it? I was hoping to be able to put a little heat to the remnants of the screw once I had the wood out of the way to remove it. As always ... Thanks for any help

Update .... Never mind, I was just being too gentle. Some more taps with a block of wood and it let loose. Usually it never ends well with the 'hit it harder' theory ....
