Gents,

Anyone round these parts know where a fellah might find an original clearing rod for a 1892 Lee Metford to either procure or borrow to make a copy of it?
My research turned up a couple different types, I’m not sure which one I should make. Suggestions to type of steel would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance

Hi noel,

I see that you are not exactly swamped with answers.

I am going to assume that you refer to a Lee Metford Mk.II rifle as opposed to the Mk.I or to the cavalry carbine?
As your research has no doubt found that the clearing rods were made obscolete in 1899 and removed from service. An original clearing rod is much scarcer than the actual rifles.

The one for which you search is 14 inches in length and has four flutes on the threaded head.

Pic to follow when I find the darn thing, I have one in a drawer somewhere.
