MOA at 100yds

IIRC, Eagleye shoots insane groups with his .22 at 100 yards, dime sized I think.

I think he is using a winchester 52d.

I've heard good opinions about the eley match ammo for shooting tight at that distance, but it is probably gun specific.

With a brand new Savage MKII TR I can get between 0.75'' - 1.375'' depending on if its 3 or 5 shots @ 100 yards using CCI Blazer. I'm hoping as the barrel wears in etc... that I'm able to put 5 shots into a 1'' group (or better) @ 100 yards before I try the expensive target ammo.

Jefro, you can get groups down to "0.075"? Even a 3 shot group into .075" would mean you're putting them almost in the same hole. With a 22 @ 100yds that's amazing.

Sometimes... Last outing was the first time @ 100 yards and I only shot approx 30 rounds including sighting in.

At times, 2 shots were in the same hole or touching etc... 1 grouping I had 2 touching, 2 side by side next to it then 1 off by 5/8'' making it 1.375'' overall. But eliminate that 1 and it would have been a 4 shot group slightly over 0.75''.

I spent more time @ 75 yards where I was consistently getting 5 shot groups of .950-1.00''' again with the CCI Blazer.

Lastly... it was my 2nd time shooting the gun and 2nd time shooting a gun period in the last 10 years or so. I'm also told I shoot way to fast and need to slow down. So I know with time and practice I'll be able to do better. Will add though a gentlemen @ the range has a Savage MKII BTVS and with Eley @ 100 yards he does .250'' groups.

With a good gun,and better quality ammunition,1" is certainly possible. My Cooper does around that with SK Standard Plus ammunition.I am hoping to try some high end Lapua or Eley ammunition,to see just what the gun is capable of.

Are you sure that you don't mean .75"?

Yea I just noticed my type-o. Meant it to be 0.75''!

We shoot quite bit with 22lr at 100y, guns that consistantly shoot 1 min and less
REM 581,Rem 540, CZ452 American,Weatherby Mark XX11, CZ Heavy barrel, and there are the guys shooting Win 52 Rem 40x also all shooting match ammo like Eley club, Ten X
Now if Eagle Eye gets on this post ask him what his Suhl does at 100, and his 40x's
he has some old Remingtons that shoot really good.

No CZ comments here?....:nest:

My 452 can with standard velocity CCI's and on a rest, and bagged.

Other than that, the gun still shootd better than I can

Not only that, but it is repeatable. I do a warm up burn of 5 shots.

Then 4 10 round strings in quick succession. 3 out of 4 are usually 1.234" and the 4th group grows slightly to 1.409 Center to Center.

While you can't ''cheat'' trajectory, some rifles shoot the arc better than others.

This target was shot on the 8th. of this month. Rifle was a 10/22 I have built, barrel is a Dlask 16", ammo was SK Standard Plus, shot from a bench with a bipod and rear bag, scope is a Leupold VX II 4-12X40. Distance 100 yards.

My 2 heavy barrel Martinis will both do an inch or less 5 shot groups at 100, one wears peep sights and the Martini Int'l. wears a 12X Unertl scope. Both require Match ammo to do it, Eley for one and Lapua for the Int'l. The best any of my .22s will do with Gopher ammo(CCI seg.HP) is about 1 1/4" at 100yds. and that was after trying most types/brands of ammo. Super shooter S. Garbe has said on many occasions that Match .22 ammo is the most accurate factory ammo made, and he's including factory c.f. ammo in that statement.
